A few years ago spirals equipped with a reservoir were recorded, from which hormones release for several months. Such an insert is unfortunately a couple of times more expensive than other spirals. Unfortunately - because it is an even more effective method of contraception. It is a pity, therefore, that the high price makes it impossible for many women to use it. The cost of buying and setting up such a spiral is - roughly one monthly cycle - more or less comparable to the costs of modern oral new hormones. The insert works effectively for three years.
The reservoir of the hormone insert releases small and constant doses of progestogen
They cause the thickening of cervical mucus, which makes it impervious to sperm, slow the transport of the egg through the fallopian tube and finally change the mucous membrane of the uterus, making it difficult to implant the pregnancy.
A completely different spiral is containing contains copper, in the shape of "thread"
Unlike most modern spirals, this insert does not resemble a T-shaped. It looks like a thread threaded with a few copper cylindrical beads. The thread is attached to the bottom of the uterus using a special device so that it can not fall out or move. Does not cause irritation. Thread with copper beads hangs freely in the uterine cavity.
The effectiveness of the example spiral called Gyne-Fix is very high - the Pearl index is only 0.2.
Women who have not yet been pregnant successfully can use this insert. They can also use it - in contrast to other inserts containing copper - women with abundant or painful menstruation or with uterine myomas. It must be admitted, however, that Gyne-Fix is a new product and perhaps after years of use it will turn out that it has some disadvantages that we do not know about yet.
