Of particular importance in the development of many disorders of health and diseases is the so-called visceral fat tissue. Obesity initiates such diseases as: diabetes, hypertension and lipid disorders, spine diseases and many more.
"SAFE AND DANGEROUS" OBESITY?
To assess the distribution of adipose tissue, an index is used to determine the ratio of waist to hip circumference - WHR (waist to hip ratio).
In obesity, we distinguish two anthropometric types:
Calculate your WHR indicator
Check what type of obesity you have!
Measure the waist circumference with a tape measure and divide it by the waist circumference.
The android type of obesity (apple) indicates the value of the index - WHR> 0.85 in women and> 1.0 in men. WHR below these values indicates a gynoidal type (pear).
Warning! Storing fat around the waist (type of apple) is more dangerous than dressing around the hips and sides (pear type). Fat cells located in the upper body have different properties from those found on the hips and thighs.
In most people, abdominal obesity increases the risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes and cancer, more so than in people with buttock-leg obesity. Excess weight can also interfere with treatment. Too much fat in the body can affect the quality of imaging such as roentgen, CT scan, ultrasound, magnetic resonance, and also make it difficult to diagnose and treat the doctor.
