Habits related to sleeping are different, just as people are different
The temperature of the bedroom and sleep
Some need a window in the bedroom to be open, others close. There are also different expectations about the temperature that is supposed to be in it. However, it was determined experimentally that in our climate zone, the optimal temperature should fluctuate between 12 and 23 degrees Celsius. It is also important that the average humidity prevailed in it. An open window will be for some a source of fresh air, and for others, especially in the time of dusting trees and grasses, a stream of dangerous pollen - allergens.
Should we sleep together?
Different cultures have different beliefs about this topic. It's enough to mention that the so-called "French bed" is always double. In this regard, partners or spouses must set their own rules. For while the sleep in two is more often disturbed, after all, some of these "disturbances" are desirable and expected, and a quieter sleep does not always mean a state worth recommending. Remember, however, that the saying is still valid; "If you make a bed, you will sleep so much."
It is also worth considering its paraphrase; "Who you make a bed with, you'll sleep like that."
Feeling safe while sleeping
If the fear of night burglary is the cause of insomnia, it is better to protect yourself to sleep more calmly. Reinforced locks, alarms, an additional telephone can be helpful in such cases.
Shift work or work late in the evening and sleep
Many people in modern society work in a shift or rotational system (employees with so-called continuous production, hospital staff, policemen, etc.). There are a lot of professions where the rule is work late in the evening (catering, theaters, communication). While some people can get used to shifts after some time, there are quite a few people who can not get used to it and it is only a source of stress and suffering for them. The adaptation to work in a rotational system is even more difficult. Likewise, people who "care for nights" because of their professional characteristics usually have sleep problems after a shorter or longer period of work. That's why most of these people have trouble sleeping sooner or later. In addition, such people show a greater tendency to fall ill with somatic illnesses and, what is more important, 2-3 times more susceptibility to injuries than people working only during the day.
Health damage caused by shift or rotational work:
· Improper and irrational nutrition
· Extra fatigue
· Easier falling into anxiety
· Irritability
· Lack of full self-fulfillment
Sleep disorders associated with overcoming time zones (trans-continental travel).
We know from practice that it is easier for us to accept the prolongation of the activity period (day) than to shorten it. That is why time disruptions during travel to the west are better than when traveling to the east. However, always traveling long distances is associated with the risk of jet lag:
· Tiredness
· Decrease in concentration, attention and efficiency
· Loss of appetite
· Increased sleepiness during the day
· Difficulty falling asleep at night
· Increased irritation and irritability
· Somatic problems (eg gastric)
