Treatment of hyperpigmentation (dermatoses with hyperpigmentation) caused by excess melanin and depigmentation of normally colored skin fragments in patients with albinism.
Composition:
1 g Ointment contains 200 mg of hydroquinone monobenzylether.
Action:
The preparation inhibits the production of pigment (melanin), does not destroy melanocytes.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation. Do not use in the treatment of discoloration spots such as: hyperpigmentation caused by photosensitivity after using some perfumes, melasma (chloasma) of pregnant women, hyperpigmentation caused by inflammation of the skin. The preparation is not effective in the treatment of cafe-au-lait spots, pigmented tints, melanomas and discolorations caused by a different dye than melanin.
Precautions:
Avoid excessive sun exposure when using the medicine. During exposure to sunlight for the whole life after applying this preparation should be used creams with a UV filter. It is inadvisable to use the drug in people with excessively dry skin or with a tendency to allergic reactions.
Pregnancy and lactation:
Due to the content of hydroquinone derivative, it is not recommended during pregnancy. Caution should be exercised if the drug is needed during breastfeeding - it is not known if the hydroquinone monobenzyl ether passes into breast milk.
Side effects:
Transient feeling of pruritus or burning may occur. Persistent burning, redness of the skin, irritation, and occurring lesions are indications for treatment discontinuation. Sometimes permanent damage to melanocytes occurs.
Dosage:
Outwardly. Discolour places discolored ointment 2-3 times a day, for up to 3 months. After satisfactory skin discoloration, the drug is used as maintenance treatment usually twice a week.
