Alleviation of inflammatory symptoms and pruritus in corticosteroid-responding skin diseases: contact dermatitis, atopic dermatitis, psoriasis (except for severe changes), lichen planus, scabies, lichen sclerosus and atrophy, ring granulomas, chronic lupus erythematosus, pustular psoriasis hands and feet, seborrheic dermatitis (except for facial skin), symptomatic treatment of pruritus in mycosis fungoides, large reactions after insect bites.
Composition:
1 g of cream contains 1 mg of dezonide.
Action:
Glucocorticosteroid for topical use with very strong action. It has anti-inflammatory, antipruritic and decompressing blood vessels. The degree of penetration through the skin barrier and the severity of the undesirable effects of systemic dezonide depends on the area of treated skin, the severity of skin lesions and the duration of treatment.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation. Primary or secondary bacterial, viral or fungal infections of the skin, even with inflammation. Ulcers. Common acne. Rosacea.Dermatitis peroralis.
Precautions:
There are no data on the use of the drug in children. Avoid using the drug on a large area of the skin, damaged skin, use in high doses, long-term treatment, use in skin folds and under an occlusive dressing and diaper. Do not use the preparation for a long time on the face (increased risk of dermatitis with the so-called rebound effect after each discontinuation of the preparation). In the case of exacerbation of changes due to the effect of rebound, it is necessary to gradually withdraw the preparation. In children, due to the greater than in adults the ratio of body surface area to body weight, it may be easier to suppress the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis and adverse effects of corticosteroids, including growth and development disorders, than in adults. In case of local intolerance, the treatment should be discontinued and its cause assessed. Avoid contact of the preparation with eyes and mucous membranes. When using the drug around the eyebrows, the treatment time must be very limited (use may cause the eyelid to droop, glaucoma and the rebound effect). Particular care should be taken in patients with psoriasis (risk of relapse due to the development of tolerance, risk of generalized pustular psoriasis and general toxicity due to disturbance of skin continuity). Corticosteroids are absorbed through the skin, therefore during the use of the preparation there is a risk of systemic side effects of undesired corticosteroids, including suppression of adrenal cortex, Cushing's syndrome. In the case of bacterial or fungal infections in the course of corticosteroid-sensitive dermatoses, causal treatment should be used prior to administration. In exceptional cases, combination therapy - causal and corticosteroid treatment may be used.
Pregnancy and lactation:
The preparation can be used during pregnancy only in extreme necessity. Avoid using the product during breastfeeding.
Side effects:
Long-term use may lead to skin atrophy, telangiectasia (especially on the face), skin stretch marks, secondary petechiae. There may be inflammation of the skin around the mouth or intensification of rosacea in the face. The preparation may delay wound healing, pressure ulcers and leg ulcers. Changes of the acne or pustular type, excessive hair growth, skin discoloration, folliculitis or exacerbation of existing lesions were observed. Secondary infections have also been reported, particularly under occlusive dressings and in skin folds as well as allergic contact dermatoses. Applying the preparation on large areas of the skin, long-term or under an occlusive dressing may cause systemic side effects, i.e. suppression of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis, Cushing's syndrome, inhibition of growth and development in children.
Dosage:
The thin layer of the cream should be gently rubbed into the affected skin areas until it is completely absorbed, up to twice a day. In some dermatoses (psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, etc.), gradual withdrawal of the drug is recommended. More frequent use of the preparation increases the risk of side effects, not improving the effectiveness of treatment.
