Treatment and care of the skin with actinic keratosis and hyperkeratosis of the feet and hands. Increase the softness and elasticity of too thick, dry and cracking skin, especially on the heels.
Composition:
1 g Ointment contains 50 mg of salicylic acid and 100 mg of urea.
Action:
A topical preparation with a keratolytic effect. Salicylic acid exerts exfoliating and weak disinfecting, bacteriostatic and antifungal action, urea causes water retention in the stratum corneum, thanks to which it relaxes and loosens the skin. It also has an exfoliating effect and facilitates penetration into the skin of other topical medicines. Both substances strengthen each other's effect, the ointment base strongly moisturizes and softens the skin, thus strengthening the keratolytic effect of active substances. Salicylic acid is absorbed into the upper layers of the epidermis, and the rate of absorption depends, among other things, on the applied base, the condition of the skin, the location of changes on the skin, occlusive dressing. T0,5 is 2-3 hours. In patients with hepatic or renal failure, the half-life of salicylic acid and its metabolites may be longer. Absorbed salicylic acid and urea are mainly excreted in the urine, and urea also with sweat.
