Treatment of external and internal hemorrhoids, in chronic and acute inflammatory states of the anus, anal fissure and rectal anus. The preparation can be used in the pre- and post-operative period.
Composition:
1 g Ointment or 1 suppository contains 10 mg neomycin sulfate, 5 mg Hydrocortisone acetate, 5 mg cinchocaine hydrochloride and 10 mg esculin as sesquihydrate.
Action:
Preparation for topical use. Neomycin is an antibiotic with a wide range of activities acting onCampylobacter spp., Escherichia spp., Enterobacter spp., Klebsiella spp., Proteus spp., Providencia spp., Pseudomonas spp., Serratia spp. It inhibits the synthesis of sensitive microbial proteins by binding to ribosomal subunits. It is absorbed by the peritoneum, respiratory system, bladder, wound area and inflamed skin. Then it is quickly excreted by the kidneys in the active form. T0,5 is 2-3 hours. Hydrocortisone is the main corticosteroid secreted by the adrenal cortex. Anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, anti-pruritic and anti-oedematous. After topical administration, it absorbs the skin to a small extent, however, after rectal administration, the absorption into the systemic circulation is significant. It binds to plasma proteins to a large extent, mainly with corticosteroid-binding globulin and albumin. It is metabolised in most tissues, mainly in the liver, to biologically inactive compounds. Metabolites are excreted by the kidneys, mainly in the form of glucuronides and sulphates, as well as unconjugated derivatives. Slight amounts are excreted in the bile. Cinchocaine is a local anesthetic, absorbs quickly, binds with proteins and is metabolized in the liver and sometimes in the kidneys. Esculin inhibits bleeding from blood vessels and reduces swellings.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation. Diabetes, tuberculosis, glaucoma, osteoporosis, acute psychosis, fungal and viral infections, venous thrombosis. Do not use in children under 12 years.
Precautions:
The drug should be discontinued if symptoms of irritation occur. If there is an infection, allergy or other symptoms at the same time, appropriate causal treatment should be used.
Pregnancy and lactation:
The preparation can be used during pregnancy only if absolutely necessary, after careful analysis of the benefits in relation to the risk. Do not use the drug while breastfeeding.
Side effects:
Occasionally burning of the anus may occur, especially in the case of significant damage to the epidermis. In the case of long-term use, you may experience side effects caused by systemic effects of hydrocortisone.
Dosage:
Typically, 1 suppository is used or a small amount of ointment is applied using the included applicator 2 times a day (morning and evening) and after each emptying. Use 3-6 days until the inflammation subsides.
