Corneal ulcers and superficial infections of the eye and its appendages caused by bacteria sensitive to ciprofloxacin.
Composition:
1 ml solution (eye drops) contains 3 mg Ciprofloxacin as hydrochloride. Drops contain benzalkonium chloride.
Action:
A chemotherapeutic agent from the fluoroquinolone group in the form of an ophthalmic preparation. It has bactericidal activity due to the inhibition of DNA gyrase. It works strongly on Gram-negative bacteria, includingPseudomonas aeruginosa, it also works on some Gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus spp. And Streptococcus spp.). Anaerobic bacteria show less sensitivity. Ciprofloxacin administered to the conjunctival sac penetrates into circulation, reaching low blood concentrations compared to oral administration.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to quinolones or any of the ingredients.
Precautions:
Prolonged use of antimicrobial agents may lead to the development of infections resistant to treatment, including mycosis. If such an infection occurs, appropriate treatment should be taken. If a rash or other symptoms of hypersensitivity develop after taking the drops, the medicine should be discontinued immediately. Do not use soft contact lenses while using the product. The safety and efficacy of ciprofloxacin in children before 1 year of age have not been established.
Pregnancy and lactation:
During pregnancy, use only if the anticipated benefits to the mother outweigh the potential risk to the fetus. Use with caution when breastfeeding.
