Acute and chronic bacterial infections of the eyelid margins. Inflammation of sclera and iris. Inflammation of the external ear.
Composition:
1 g of eye Ointment contains 10 mg of Hydrocortisone acetate and 10 mg of oxytetracycline in the form of hydrochloride.
Action:
Preparation containing hydrocortisone acetate - corticosteroid for local use with low activity and oxytetracycline - antibiotic from the group of tetracyclines. Hydrocortisone has anti-inflammatory, anti-exudative and anti-pruritic properties. Oxytetracycline has bacteriostatic activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria as wellChlamydia andMycoplasma spp. The mechanism of action of oxytetracycline consists in inhibiting the synthesis of microbial proteins.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation. acute conjunctivitis, primary glaucoma, corneal disorders connected to epithelial defects. Viral diseases (cold sores, chickenpox, viral keratitis), fungal and tuberculous eye diseases.
Precautions:
Prolonged use of the preparation may lead to glaucoma and subcapsular cataract, so after about 10 days of treatment, the eye pressure and transparency of the lens should be checked. Long-term topical antibiotic use may cause the development of fungi and bacteria (Pseudomonas spp., Proteus spp.) resistant to antibiotics contained in the ointment. When using the Ointment, be careful not to touch the tip of the eye tube, eyelid or any other surface, as this may cause contamination of the contents of the tube.
Pregnancy and lactation:
Wash carefully during pregnancy and breast-feeding.
Side effects:
Sometimes the drug may cause transient burning in the eye area, tearing. redness of the conjunctiva and blurred vision, which may persist for several minutes after the application of the ointment. With prolonged use of high doses may occur secondary infection with fungi. There may also be an increase in intraocular pressure, which in exceptional cases leads to glaucoma, damage to the optic nerve and subcapsular cataract.
Dosage:
A small amount of ointment is squeezed directly from the tube 1-3 times a day into the conjunctival sac or on the eyelid margins.
