Turbidities and outflows of the vitreous humor of various etiologies - age, hypertension, diabetes, perivascular changes, lens opacities as the first symptom of senile cataract.
Composition:
1 ml contains 3 mg of potassium iodide and 3 mg of sodium iodide.
Action:
Iodides may delay lens opacification and deterioration of visual acuity due to the reduction of disulfide bonds of the lens's eye proteins to free hydrogen sulfide groups, which reduces the number of bonds between protein molecules as well as intramolecular bonds. The effects of Iodine on the early stages of senile cataract are not accurately evaluated.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to iodine and other components of the preparation. Thyroid dysfunction.
Precautions:
There are no data on the safety of the medicine in children under 12 years of age.
Pregnancy and lactation:
There are no data on the safety of use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. The preparation can be used during pregnancy only if the anticipated benefits to the mother outweigh the potential risk to the fetus.
Side effects:
Common: thyroid enlargement (in particularly sensitive people), acne lesions, transient burning sensation and "sand" under the eyelids. Rare: increased tear secretion.
Dosage:
