Pains of various origin: head, teeth, muscles, joints and bones, menstrual periods, after surgical and dental procedures. Fever in the course of colds and flu.
Composition:
1 suppository contains 250 mg or 500 mg of paracetamol.
Action:
An analgesic and antipyretic drug, works mainly by inhibiting the activity of prostaglandin cyclooxygenase at o.u.n. (it does not impair its activity in peripheral tissues). It is well absorbed from the digestive tract after rectal administration. The binding to blood proteins is insignificant. It penetrates into most tissues, through the placental barrier as well as into breast milk. Bioavailability is about 88%. Maximum concentration in blood reaches 45 min. T0,5 it is about 2.5 hours. It is metabolized in the liver; excreted in the urine after conjugation with glucuronic acid or sulfuric acid.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation. Severe hepatic and renal failure. Do not use the drug in people who are addicted to alcohol.
Precautions:
Particularly cautiously used in patients with liver or kidney failure, starved and regularly consuming alcohol (risk of liver damage) and hypersensitivity to salicylates.
Pregnancy and lactation:
During pregnancy, use only if definitely needed. Use with caution when breastfeeding.
Side effects:
Very rare: allergic reactions (pruritus, urticaria, rash, erythema), gastrointestinal disorders (nausea, vomiting), liver and kidney abnormalities. Occasional: methaemoglobinaemia, agranulocytosis, thrombocytopenia.
Dosage:
Rectally. Suppositories 250 mg: children 6-12 years - 1 suppository up to 4 times a day, not more often than every 4 hours. Suppositories 500 mg: adults and children> 12 years - 1 suppository 4-6 times a day. Do not use more than 8 suppositories a day. The maximum dose for adults in short-term treatment is 4g and in long-term treatment 2.6g. Suppositories should not be divided. The drug should not be used in children for more than 3 days, and in adults for more than 10 days without a doctor's recommendation.
