Ailments associated with influenza and cold: headache, chills, bone and muscle pain, obstruction of the nasal passages, sinus and throat pain.
Composition:
1 tabl contains: 500 mg of Paracetamol, 25 mg of Caffeine, 20 mg of terpen hydrate, 5 mg of phenylephrine hydrochloride, 30 mg of vitamin C.
Action:
The preparation combines the action of individual ingredients. Paracetamol has an analgesic and antipyretic effect, mainly by inhibiting the activity of prostaglandin cyclooxygenase at o.u.n. It is well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. Metabolism occurs in the liver and renal excretion. Caffeine has a stimulating effect on vegetative centers: respiratory, vasomotor and vagal nerve, which improves general well-being and eliminates the fatigue often associated with cold diseases. It is well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, metabolized in the liver, excreted by the kidneys. Phenylephrine is a sympathomimetic amine that acts mainly on the α receptors, with virtually no effect on the heart. It causes narrowing of peripheral blood vessels (including vessels of the mucous membranes), used in higher doses raises blood pressure. Terpene hydrate is an expectorant with peripheral action, causing increased secretion and liquefaction of mucus in the bronchi through direct action on the bronchial mucosa of the bronchial tree; it also has a disinfectant effect on the respiratory tract. The addition of vitamin C supplements deficiencies in the body, often occurring in the course of cold diseases.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation. Severe hepatic and renal failure, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, hypertension, aneurysms, heart disease, pregnancy and lactation, increased intraocular pressure, prostatic hypertrophy, G-6-PD deficiency, alcoholism. Treatment with tricyclic antidepressants, β-blockers, MAO inhibitors or taking them in the last 2 weeks.
Precautions:
Use with caution in the case of liver and kidney disease, emphysema, chronic bronchitis.
Pregnancy and lactation:
The drug is not recommended during pregnancy and breast-feeding.
Side effects:
Paracetamol rarely causes hypersensitivity reactions (rash, pruritus, urticaria, erythema), gastrointestinal disturbances (epigastric burning, nausea, vomiting). Occasional: thrombocytopenia, methemoglobinemia, agranulocytosis. Phenylephrine may cause nausea, headache and dizziness, a small increase in blood pressure and very rarely palpitations. These symptoms are usually transient. Caffeine can cause headaches, sleep disturbances, muscle tremors, arrhythmias and rhythms.
Dosage:
Orally. Adults: 2 tabl. up to 4 times a day. Do not use for more than 3 days.
