Acetylsalicylic acid has analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic effects. Irreversibly inhibits arachidonic acid cyclooxygenase, thereby inhibiting the synthesis of prostaglandids, including A2 - which inhibits platelet aggregation. The drug is quickly and completely absorbed from the digestive tract. It is transformed into the active metabolite, salicylic acid, during and after absorption. The maximum concentration of Acetylsalicylic acid occurs after 10-20 min, and salicylic acid after 0.3-2 hours. It is strongly bound to plasma proteins, crosses the placenta and into breast milk. Metabolism occurs in the liver and renal excretion. T0,5 is 2-3 hours.
