Acetylsalicylic acid has analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic effects. It irreversibly inhibits the activity of cyclooxygenase, the enzyme responsible for the transformation of arachidonic acid. The drug is absorbed more slowly than in the form of an ordinary tablet. The time until the peak plasma concentration occurs depends on the time the stomach contents enter the duodenum. It binds to plasma proteins, mainly albumin. It passes through the placenta and into breast milk. It is metabolised in the gastrointestinal tract, blood and liver to salicylic acid. Excreted mainly by the kidneys in the form of free salicylic acid and metabolites.

Use with caution in patients receiving concomitant anticoagulants (oral antivitamin K, Heparin, low molecular weight heparins, antiplatelet agents - ticlopidine, indobufen). Drinking alcohol may increase the irritant effect on the digestive tract.
Pregnancy and lactation:
The preparation can be used in the first and second trimester of pregnancy only after careful consideration of the benefit to the mother in relation to the risk to the fetus. In the third trimester the preparation is contraindicated for use. Acetylsalicylic acid is excreted in breast milk, therefore the preparation should be avoided during breastfeeding. The product may affect fertility through affecting ovulation, this effect is transient and disappears after treatment.
