A topical drug with a wide range of antifungal activity. Approximately 1.3% of the applied dose is absorbed through the skin.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to ciclopirox with olamine or any of the excipients. Do not use during breastfeeding or open wounds.
Precautions:
In newborns, infants and children under 6 years of age, treatment can only be performed after a very thorough benefit / risk assessment. Avoid contact with the eyes, the skin around the eyes and mucous membranes. One should also avoid contact of latex condoms with the preparation in the form of a cream because of the risk of their damage by the paraffin present in the cream.
Pregnancy and lactation:
Do not use during pregnancy, except when the anticipated benefits to the mother outweigh the potential risk to the fetus. Do not use during breast-feeding.
Side effects:
Local hypersensitivity reactions (irritation, pruritus, burning), rarely allergic contact dermatitis may occur.
Dosage:
The cream or lotion is usually applied twice a day, to affected lesions on the skin, gently rubbed in or left to dry. Treatment usually lasts about 2 weeks; to prevent the recurrence of mycosis, treatment should be continued for 1-2 weeks.
