Fungal infections: athlete's foot (athlete's foot for athletes), groin, torso, nails; skin yeast; dandruff versatile; infections with mixed fungal and bacterial etiology (Streptococcus spp., Staphylococcus spp.).
Composition:
1 g of gel contains 20 mg of miconazole.
Action:
An imidazole derivative with antifungal activity. It inhibits the synthesis of fungal cell membrane sterols (transformation of lanosterol to ergosterol), which leads to impaired permeability and disturbances of enzymes associated with the cell membrane and chitin synthesis. In researchin vitro Miconazole was characterized by a wide range of antifungal activity, it acted inter alia for dermatophytes (Trichophyton mantagrophytes, Epidermophyton floccosum), yeasts (C.andida albicans, Pityrosporum orbiculare andpachydermatis, Cryptococcus neoformans) and radiators (Streptomyces madurae, Nocardia asteroides). After topical administration, it penetrates into the blood in small amounts.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to miconazole or other components of the preparation. Do not use the preparation on wounded skin and on mucous membranes.
Precautions:
The drug is intended for topical application to the skin. Do not use for eyes, protect eyes from contact with the preparation. Due to the propylene glycol content, it can cause skin irritation. If hypersensitivity symptoms occur, local irritation should be discontinued.
Pregnancy and lactation:
In pregnant women the potential risk associated with the use of the product should be weighed against the expected therapeutic benefits. Due to the minimal absorption of the drug, its use in pregnant women or during lactation requires special care.
Side effects:
Very rare: anaphylactic reactions, hypersensitivity, angioneurotic edema; urticaria, contact dermatitis, rash, erythema, pruritus, burning sensation on the skin; reactions at the injection site, including irritation.
Dosage:
Locally: thin (about 1 mm) gel layer applied to the affected skin surface twice a day (morning and evening) - treatment of dandruff versicolor, skin yeast usually 2-3 weeks, onychomycosis 2-4 weeks, ringworm torso at least 2 weeks, and tinea foot 4-6 weeks. In onychomycosis gel is used under occlusive (closed) dressings. After each application, wash your hands with soap and water.
