120 mg tablets: relief of symptoms of seasonal rhinitis. 180 mg tablets: relief of symptoms of chronic idiopathic urticaria.
Composition:
1 tabl powl. contains 120 mg or 180 mg of fexofenadine hydrochloride (equivalent to 112 mg or 168 mg of fexofenadine).
Action:
Antihistamine, a selective H-receptor antagonist1. Fexofenadine is the pharmacologically active metabolite of terfenadine. It does not sedate or cause significant QT interval changesc in the ECG picture. It is quickly absorbed from the digestive tract. Plasma protein binding is 60-70%. It is metabolized to a negligible extent and excreted mainly in the faeces, about 10% are excreted unchanged in the urine. T0,5 is 11-15 hours.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation.
Precautions:
Use with caution in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease, in the elderly, and in patients with impaired renal or hepatic function. Not recommended for children under 12 years (no data on safety and efficacy).
Pregnancy and lactation:
During pregnancy, use only if absolutely necessary. Use during breastfeeding is not recommended.
Side effects:
Common: pain and dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, dryness of the oral mucosa. Uncommon: fatigue. In addition, hypersensitivity reactions (angioneurotic edema, chest tightness, shortness of breath, skin redness, generalized anaphylaxis), insomnia, nervousness, sleep disturbances, nightmares, tachycardia, palpitations, diarrhea, rash, urticaria, pruritus have been observed.
Dosage:
Orally. Adults and children from 12 years in seasonal allergic rhinitis: 120 mg once a day; in chronic idiopathic urticaria: 180 mg once a day.
