Ointment and cream: topical treatment of psoriasis vulgaris. Liquid for use on the scalp: scalp psoriasis.
Composition:
1 g of Ointment, cream or 1 ml of liquid contains 50 μg of calcipotriol. The Ointment and fluid contain propylene glycol, the cream contains cetostearyl alcohol.
Action:
An antipsoriatic drug for topical use. Calcipotriol is an analogue of vitamin D. Researchin vitro suggest that the drug induces differentiation and inhibits the proliferation of keratinocytes. In addition, calcipotriol is a potent inhibitor of interleukin-1-induced T-cell activation. After application to the skin, only a small amount of the drug is absorbed through the skin.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation. Disorders of calcium-phosphate economy. Severe hepatic or renal failure. Exudative psoriasis. Pyrexic psoriasis. Do not use ointment and cream on a surface of more than 30% of the skin.
Precautions:
Do not use on the face. Do not use ointments and cream on hairy scalp. Avoid exposure to strong sunlight and / or artificial phototherapy when using the product; Topical use of calcipotriol in combination with UV irradiation can only be used if the benefits to the patient outweigh the potential risks. Side effects:
Very common: skin irritation. Common: rash, skin burning sensation, dry skin, pruritus, erythema, contact dermatitis. Uncommon: severity of psoriatic lesions. Very rare: hypercalcemia, hypercalciuria, allergic reactions. Not known: transient changes in skin pigmentation, transient hypersensitivity to light, urticaria, angioneurotic edema, swelling of the face and periorbital skin.
Dosage:

The maximum weekly dose in adults is 100 g of the preparation. Children (only ointment): children over 12 years of age: apply a small amount of the preparation to areas of skin affected by disease twice daily; the maximum weekly dose is 75 g. Children 6-12 years: apply a small amount of the preparation to areas of skin affected by disease twice daily; the maximum weekly dose is 50 g.Liquid. Adults: a small amount of liquid lubricate the affected area of scalp 2 times a day, in the morning and in the evening. The maximum weekly dose is 60 g of the preparation.
