Treatment of cutobacteria (infection with the human thread), ankylostomatosis (infection with duodenal hookworm), necrosis (American hookworm infection), strongyloidosis (infection with intestinal nematode), ascariasis (human worm infestation), trichuroses (human whiplash infection), tapeworms (tapeworm infection of the genustaenia).
Composition:
1 tabl for chewing and chewing contains 400 mg of albendazole; the preparation contains lactose. 20 ml of the suspension contains 400 mg of albendazole; the preparation contains benzoic acid.
Action:
The antiperspirant, a benzimidazole derivative. It works on eggs, larvae and forms of adult intestinal parasites. The mechanism of action is to inhibit tubulin polymerization, which prevents the parasite from absorbing Glucose and leads to its death. Albendazole acts on: nematodes (human roundworm, human whipworm, human worms, duodenal scavenger, american hookworm, intestinal carcinoma) and tapewormsTaenia spp.. After oral administration, the drug is slightly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract (<5%). Absorption increases about 5 times if the dose is given with high-fat food. The drug is subject to a rapid and intense first-pass effect. It is metabolized in the liver to the active albendazole sulfoxide. T0,5 the albenazole sulfoxide is 8.5 h. Albendazole sulfoxide and its metabolites are excreted mainly in the bile, to a small extent in the urine.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to albendazole or excipients. Pregnancy or its suspicion.
Precautions:
Treatment with albendazole may reveal pre-existing cystitis o.u.n., especially in regions with high incidence of tapeworms. As a result of an inflammatory reaction caused by the death of parasites within the brain, patients may have neurological symptoms during treatment, i.e. convulsions, increased intracranial pressure and focal symptoms. Symptoms may appear soon after treatment, and it may be necessary to start administering steroids and anticonvulsants immediately. The preparation should be used with particular caution in elderly patients with impaired hepatic function. Preparation in the form of tabl. for chewing and chewing contains lactose - should not be used in patients with galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency or malabsorption of glucose-galactose; in addition, tabl. contain an orange yellow which may cause allergic reactions. The suspension contains benzoic acid, which can cause irritation to the skin, eyes and mucous membranes.
Pregnancy and lactation:
The preparation is contraindicated during pregnancy or if pregnancy is suspected. In order to avoid taking the drug early in pregnancy, it is recommended that in women of childbearing age treatment with the preparation be carried out within the first 7 days after the onset of menstruation or after a negative pregnancy test result. It should not be used during breastfeeding unless the potential benefit outweighs the risks associated with the treatment.
Side effects:
Uncommon: pain and dizziness, symptoms from the upper gastrointestinal tract (eg epigastric pain, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting), diarrhea. Rare: hypersensitivity reactions (rash, pruritus, urticaria), increased liver enzymes. Very rare: erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome.
Dosage:
Orally. Adults and children over 2 years. Oesxia, ankylostomatosis, necrosis, ascariasis, trichurosis: 400 mg (1 table for chewing and chewing or 20 ml of suspension) given once. Taenium, strongyloidosis: 400 mg once daily for the Next 3 days. If the patient has not been cured, it is advisable to carry out the treatment again after 3 weeks. In children and patients who have difficulties swallowing tablets. suspension is recommended. It is not necessary to administer fasting or purge the digestive tract. There is no need to change the dosage in elderly patients and patients with impaired renal function. Hepatic impairment may have a significant effect on the pharmacokinetics of the active albenazole metabolite. Preparation in the form of tabl.to chew and chew you should swallow with water or, if the patient has difficulty swallowing, tabl. it can be crushed, cracked or chewed with a small amount of water.
