All forms of acne vulgaris, especially inflammatory forms, with the presence of papules and pimples.
Composition:
1 g Ointment or liquid contains 20 mg of erythromycin. The ointment contains cetostearyl alcohol.
Action:
The product contains Erythromycin, which has a bacteriostatic effect on all microorganisms that are important for the formation of acne vulgaris, in particular onPropionibacterium acnes (orCorynebacterium acnes). Erythromycin inhibits the breakdown of lipids on the surface of the skin, further has direct anti-inflammatory effects. researchin vitro confirmed the effect of the preparation also on bacteria:Micrococcus spp. andStaphylococcus spp. The liquid formulation contains alcohol that enhances the antibacterial activity of erythromycin and dissolves herbage. The ointment base has the properties of tallow emulsion. Erythromycin does not penetrate the skin in significant amounts. Even after using the product for several weeks on large surfaces, it was not found in the blood serum. Erythromycin passes from the product into the ducts that lead out the sebaceous glands and exerts bacteriostatic activity there.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to erythromycin or to any of the excipients. Ointments must not be used in the breast area of a woman during breastfeeding so that the baby does not come into contact with the medicine.
Precautions:
Cetostearyl alcohol contained in the ointment may cause local skin reactions (eg contact dermatitis). Be careful that the liquid does not get into your eyes.
Pregnancy and lactation:
The preparation can be used by pregnant women, because erythromycin applied to the skin is not absorbed in the body in significant quantities. The occurrence of side effects in a child during fetal life is unlikely. The preparation can be used by breast-feeding women. In order to avoid oral ingestion of erythromycin, the baby's mouth should not come into contact with the treated body.
Side effects:
Color: in rare cases, at the beginning of treatment mild erythema or slight exfoliation may occur. Fluid: dryness, redness, burning sensation and itching may occur (in these cases you can continue treatment with the preparation in the form of an ointment). In individual cases, the symptoms described above may occur during the course of hypersensitivity reactions (allergic contact dermatitis). Prolonged use of the ointment or liquid may lead to worsening of the lesions due to the development of bacterial resistance and / or inflammation of the hair follicles caused by Gram-negative bacteria.
Dosage:
