1 ml of liquid or 1 g of gel contains 25 mg of cyclic 11,12-erythromycin carbonate. The gel contains dimethylsulfoxide and propylene glycol.
Action:
Macrolide antibiotic. It has a bacteriostatic effect, inhibiting protein biosynthesis. It works on some Gram-negative bacteria and many Gram-positive bacteria, including onPropionibacterium acnesan anaerobic gram-positive rod that is a pathogenic factor in acne. The preparation is practically not absorbed into the blood.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to cyclic 11,12-erythromycin A carbonate, other antibiotics from the macrolide group or to any of the excipients.
Precautions:
The drug should be used only on the affected skin. Do not use for eyes and mucous membranes. If skin irritation occurs at application sites, discontinue use. The product should not be used on damaged skin (cuts, open, oozing wounds). Cross-resistance with other antibiotics from the macrolide group may occur. If excessive proliferation of erythromycin-resistant bacteria occurs during the application of the solution, discontinue treatment and use appropriate antibacterial treatment. The safety and efficacy of the preparation in children has not been established. The gel formulation contains propylene glycol and dimethyl sulfoxide, which can cause skin irritation.
Pregnancy and lactation:
The gel formulation can be used during pregnancy only if clearly necessary. Solution - no contraindications for use during pregnancy. Caution should be exercised when using the product in breast-feeding women.
Side effects:
Rare: eye irritation while using the product on the face, during prolonged or repeated treatment with Erythromycin, may develop a non-sensitive bacteria, the site of application may cause burning, drying of the skin, itching, flaking, redness or greasiness of the skin (solution).
Dosage:
Solution: skin areas should be lubricated twice daily (morning and evening) with a cotton swab soaked in a solution of the preparation. The solution should be applied to clean, dry skin.
