Relief of symptoms of mild to moderate knee arthritis.
Composition:
1 tabl contains 625 mg of Glucosamine (as hydrochloride).
Action:
Glucosamine is an endogenous substance, a typical component of the polysaccharide chain of extracellular matrix of cartilage and glucosaminoglycans of the synovial fluid. researchin vitro andin vivo showed that glucosamine stimulates the synthesis of physiological glucosaminoglycans and proteoglycans by chondrocytes and hyaluronic acid by synoviocytes. The mechanism of action in humans is unknown. The response time to treatment can not be assessed. Available information on the pharmacokinetics of glucosamine is limited. Absolute bioavailability is unknown. The volume of distribution is about 5 liters, and T0,5 after intravenous administration, it is about 2 hours. Approx. 38% of the intravenous dose is excreted unchanged in the urine.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to glucosamine or any of the excipients. Allergy to crustaceans (from which the active substance is obtained).
Precautions:
Glucosamine is not recommended for acute pain. In patients with reduced Glucose tolerance, it is advisable to check blood glucose levels and, when needed, the need for insulin, before and during treatment. In patients with a known risk factor for cardiovascular disease, monitoring of blood lipids is recommended because hypercholesterolemia has been observed in rare cases in patients treated with glucosamine. Because of the risk of exacerbating asthma symptoms after starting treatment with Glucosamine, caution should be used in patients with asthma. There are no studies on the use of the drug in patients with impaired renal function and (or) liver. Do not use glucosamine in children and adolescents under 18 years of age due to a lack of data on safety and efficacy.
Pregnancy and lactation:
The drug should not be used during pregnancy (no data). The use of the drug is not recommended during breastfeeding (no data available).
Side effects:
Common: headache, fatigue, nausea, abdominal pain, indigestion, diarrhea, constipation. Uncommon: rash, itching, redness of the skin. Frequency unknown: dizziness, vomiting, angioneurotic edema, urticaria, edema / peripheral edema, elevated liver enzymes, jaundice, deterioration of glycemic control in patients with diabetes mellitus. There have been sporadic, spontaneous cases of hypercholesterolemia, the causes of which have not been established.
Dosage:
Orally. Adults: 1250 mg once a day. Alleviation of symptoms (especially pain) occurs only after several weeks of treatment, and in some cases even later. If after 2-3 months the symptoms are not alleviated, treatment with glucosamine should be reconsidered. Table. can be taken regardless of meals.
