Action:
A plant medicine with a sedative and hypnotic effect, whose effectiveness is based only on long-term use and experience. It improves the latency phase and the quality of sleep. The substances that make up the valerian root extract (sesquiterpenoids, flavonoids) probably produce a clinical effect, including on interaction with the GABA system, adenosine A1 receptor agonism and 5-HT1A binding receptors.

There have been no studies to determine whether the drug may reduce the functioning of the liver and kidneys, causes other diseases or whether the patient's age may be a contraindication to the use of the drug. Due to the mild valerian root effect, it is not indicated for exacerbation of symptoms or in diseases requiring a doctor's control over the therapy.
