Composition:
1 pellet contains 5 mg of benzocaine and 1 mg of cetylpyridinium chloride; the tablets contain maltitol. 1 ml of solution contains 10 mg of benzocaine and 2 mg of cetylpyridinium chloride; the aerosol contains ethanol. A single press of the container head releases 0.15 ml of solution containing 1.54 mg of benzocaine and 0.3 mg of cetylpyridinium chloride.
Action:
Preparation for decontamination and local anesthetic used in diseases of the throat. Cetylpyridinium chloride is a disinfectant of the group of quaternary ammonium compounds. Bactericidal for Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and for some lipophilic viruses and fungi. Benzocaine blocks the transmission of impulses along the nerves, including the nerves of the pain, thus eliminating the feeling of pain.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to the active substances or to any of the excipients. In addition, the aerosol: hypersensitivity to other local anesthetics, alcohol dependence, methemoglobinemia.
Precautions:
It should not be used if there are open wounds in the mouth because cetylpyridinium chloride slows down healing. Use in children under 12 years of age is not recommended. The pills contain maltitol (about 1g / lozenge) which should be taken into account in diabetics. The lozenges should not be used in patients with rare hereditary problems of fructose and Glucose intolerance. The pills contain castor oil and Allura red - these substances can cause allergic reactions. Due to the increased risk of methaemoglobinaemia, the aerosol should be used with caution in patients with breathing difficulties (eg asthma, bronchitis), elderly patients, smokers, patients with heart disease. Avoid contact of the aerosol with eyes and should not be inhaled. After applying the spray, you may experience a transient burning sensation in the mouth and throat or difficulty swallowing - this may make eating and drinking more difficult, and may increase the risk of lip and tongue biting, so do not eat, drink, chew or eat brush your teeth for at least 1 hour after applying the spray. The aerosol contains small amounts of ethanol (less than 100 mg / dose).
Pregnancy and lactation:
Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding is not recommended.
