Auxiliary treatment of acute and chronic rhinosinusitis caused by infection or sensitization.
Composition:
1 ml drops contain 1 mg naphazoline nitrate. The solution contains benzalkonium chloride.
Action:
Naphazoline is an imidazole derivative that stimulates vascular α-adrenergic receptors. When administered topically, it shrinks the dilated blood vessels and reduces symptoms associated with inflammation. The onset of action occurs 2-4 minutes after instillation, Cmax after approx. 7 min. The duration of action is about 3.5 hours.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to the preparation ingredients or imidazole derivatives. Glaucoma with a narrow angle.
Precautions:
Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular disease, hypertension, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, hypertrophy of the prostate gland and in elderly patients. Do not exceed the recommended doses (transient local irritation and nasal congestion may occur) and the time of application (secondary drug-induced rhinitis and permanent changes in the epithelium may occur). Due to the content of benzalkonium chloride, irritation of the nasal mucosa may occur.
Pregnancy and lactation:
It can only be used during pregnancy if the benefits to the mother outweigh the potential risk to the fetus. There are no data on the penetration of nafazoline in human milk. During feeding, the use of the drug requires caution.
Side effects:
After the period of anemia, swelling and congestion of the nasal mucosa with increased secretion of the mucous membrane may occur. Rarely: headache and dizziness, nausea, excessive perspiration, anxiety, weakness, drowsiness, hypertension, arrhythmia, hyperglycemia.
Dosage:
Intranasally. Adults and children> 6 years: 1-2 drops in each nostril, no more frequently than every 4-6 h. Do not use for more than 3-5 days.
