Short-term, ad hoc treatment of symptoms of nasal congestion - runny nose, nasal congestion, nasal mucous membrane swelling, caused by inflammation associated with bacterial infection.
Composition:
1 ml of nasal drops contains 50 mg of sulfatiazole and 1 mg of naphazoline nitrate.
Action:
Preparation for local use with bacteriostatic and sympathomimetic effects. Sulfatiazole has a bacteriostatic effect on Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Naphazoline causes contraction of the dilated vessels of the mucous membrane, which reduces swelling and nasal exudation caused by inflammation. Facilitates drainage of paranasal sinuses and breathing. Intranasal administration may also clear the auditory tube. Naphazoline applied topically to mucous membranes works after approx. 5 minutes, then small amounts can be absorbed through the nasal mucosa. Sulfatiazole is practically not absorbed, acts locally. The therapeutic effect lasts for 6-8 hours.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation. Allergy to sulfonamides. Glaucoma with closed angle of perception. Nasal dries drying out. Children under 12 years.
Precautions:
Particularly cautiously use in elderly patients. Carefully use in patients with diabetes, bronchial asthma, hypertension, thyroid or cardiovascular disease (especially in the case of arrhythmias), cerebral arteriosclerosis, prostatic hypertrophy, during therapy with MAO inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants. If pain occurs at the injection site, no improvement, worsening of local epithelial changes and nosebleeds, treatment should be discontinued.
Pregnancy and lactation:
Do not use during pregnancy and during breastfeeding unless clearly necessary. When starting treatment, the expected benefit to the mother should be estimated in relation to the risk to the fetus or breast-fed child.
Side effects:
Local side effects: sneezing, stabbing nose pain, burning sensation, increased nasal discharge, allergic reactions (often in children with allergy to children under 12 years of age, especially under 7 years of age - despite contraindications). General side effects (mainly after nasal administration due to rapid absorption of the drug, in the case of overdose and in children under 3 years of age - despite contraindications): increase in pressure, nausea, pain and dizziness, palpitations, drowsiness and drowsiness, slow heart rate, Stevens-Johnson syndrome.
Dosage:
Intranasally. Adults and children over 12 years of age: for each nostril: 1-2 drops every 4-6 h. Do not use more often than every 4 and not more than 3-5 days, due to the risk of secondary edema and runny nose and permanent changes in the epithelium.
