Prevention of pulmonary complications in patients during intensive care after surgery.
Composition:
1 ampoule (2 ml) contains 15 mg ambroxol.
Action:
Mucolytic drug. It increases the secretion of mucus in the airways, stimulates the production of pulmonary surfactant and the activity of the epithelial ciliates of the respiratory system. Thanks to this, it increases the amount of mucus in the airways and improves its transport. Facilitates the coughing up of secretions and relieves cough. T0,5 is 10 hours. Ambroxol is excreted in urine unchanged and in the form of two metabolites conjugated to glucuronic acid.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
Precautions:
Caution should be exercised in patients with gastric or duodenal ulcer disease, renal or hepatic failure, weakened cough reflex, or impaired ciliary purification of the bronchi (possibility of residual secretion in the airways). In patients with bronchial asthma, the drug may initially cough.
Pregnancy and lactation:
The medicine can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding only after careful assessment of the risk / benefit ratio. Particular care should be taken during the first trimester of pregnancy.
Side effects:
Rarely: heartburn, indigestion, constipation; allergic reactions (mostly skin rashes). Very rare: nausea, vomiting; anaphylactic reactions (swelling of the face, shortness of breath, increased body temperature, chills).
Dosage:
Adults: 15 mg 2-3 times a day, and in severe cases 30 mg 2-3 times a day, by slow intravenous injection. The drug can also be given as a drip infusion, dissolved in a solution of Glucose, fructose, saline or Ringer fluid. In patients with renal insufficiency, the dose should be reduced or prolonged intervals between consecutive doses. After administration, the patient should be cough-injected or the secretion should be sucked out. Do not give the medicine immediately before bedtime.
