A herbal medicine used as an expectorant in the case of productive (wet) cough.
Composition:
1 ml of syrup contains 7 mg of dry extract from ivy leaves. The syrup contains sorbitol. 5 ml of syrup contains 0.5 mg ethanol (flavor ingredient).
Action:
The effectiveness of the preparation is based only on long-term use and experience. The main components of the dry extract of ivy leaves are triterpene saponins, mainly hederacoside C and alpha-hederine. The product has a bronchodilator effect and reduces the viscosity of mucus.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to the active substance, to other family plantsAraliaceae or to any of the excipients. Do not use in children under 2 years of age due to the risk of deterioration of respiratory symptoms.
Precautions:
A long-lasting or recurrent cough in children aged 2-4 requires medical diagnosis before starting treatment. If you get shortness of breath, fever or purulent sputum, you should consult your doctor or pharmacist. Concurrent use with antitussives such as codeine or dextromethorphan is not recommended without medical consultation. Caution is advised in patients with gastritis or stomach ulcers. The preparation contains sorbitol - should not be used in patients with rare hereditary fructose intolerance. The drug contains small amounts of ethanol - less than 100 mg per dose of the drug.
Pregnancy and lactation:
Safety during pregnancy and lactation has not been determined - use is not recommended.
Orally. Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age: 5-7,5 ml of syrup twice a day. Children from 6 to 12 years: 5 ml of syrup twice a day. Children from 2 to 5 years: 2.5 ml of syrup twice a day. The syrup should be taken in the morning and early afternoon. During the therapy it is recommended to drink increased amounts of water or other warm decaffeinated beverages.
