Helpful in acute and chronic inflammation of the airways with cough.
Composition:
1 ml of syrup contains 7 mg of dry extract from ivy leaves (5-7,5: 1). It contains sorbitol.
Action:
Ivy saponins have expectorant, secretolytic and bronchospasmic effects. The effect of these activities is relaxation of the bronchial smooth muscle, hydration of the respiratory epithelial mucosa and the increase of the movement of the respiratory epithelial cilia.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to the active substance and auxiliary substances of the drug.
Precautions:
It is not recommended for patients with hereditary fructose intolerance.
Pregnancy and lactation:
The safety of use during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been established. The preparation can only be used if the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.
Side effects:
Uncommon: gastrointestinal complaints (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea) and a slight laxative effect due to the sorbitol content. Very rare: allergic reactions (eg: dyspnoea, Quincke's edema, rash, urticaria). Patients under 10 years should be carefully observed due to the lack of sufficient data on the occurrence of side effects in this group of patients.
Dosage:
Orally. Adults and children over 10 years of age: 5 ml of syrup 3 times a day. If necessary, the dose for adults can be increased to 7.5 ml 3 times a day. Children 6-9 years: 5 ml of syrup 3 times a day. Children 1-5 years: 2.5 ml syrup 3 times a day. Children under 1 year: 2.5 ml of syrup 2 times a day. Shake before use. Treatment should last for a minimum of 7 days even with mild inflammatory conditions of the airways. For a sustained therapeutic effect, it is recommended to continue treatment for 2-3 days after the symptoms have resolved.
