Composition:
1 g of syrup contains 60 mg of sulphoquaicol. The product contains sucrose and ethanol.
Action:
The preparation has an expectorant effect and weak disinfecting effect. Sulfoguaquol breaks down in the body into free guaiacol, which is excreted through the respiratory tract. Irritates the bronchial mucosa, causing expectorant reflexes.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation.
Precautions:
Due to the ethanol content, the drug should not be used in children under 6 years of age, as well as in patients with liver dysfunction, alcoholism, epilepsy, brain damage, mental illness. Due to the sucrose content, caution should be exercised in patients with diabetes mellitus, in people with glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome, in fructose intolerance or in people with sucrase-isomaltase deficiency.
Pregnancy and lactation:
Due to the ethanol content, the drug should not be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Side effects:
Irritation of the gastrointestinal mucosa is very rare. The drug may have side effects in patients with diabetes mellitus, in people with glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome, with fructose intolerance or in people with sucrase-isomaltase deficiency.
Dosage:
Orally. Children over 6 years: 5 ml of syrup (1 teaspoon) 3 times a day. Adults: 10 ml of syrup (1 tablespoon) 3 times a day.
