Symptomatic treatment of upper gastrointestinal disorders associated with hyperacidity of gastric acid, including: inflammation of the lining of the esophagus and stomach, heartburn, indigestion, reflux oesophagitis caused by retrograde regurgitation of the esophagus into the esophagus and hiatus hernia, symptomatic treatment. Helpful in peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum.
A compound drug containing aluminum oxide and magnesium hydroxide with a neutralizing effect (increase in pH above 3). The effect of the preparation is to reduce the acidity of gastric juice by neutralizing hydrochloric acid. Salt formation by aluminum and magnesium hydroxide by reaction with gastric hydrochloric acid increases the pH of gastric juice and reduces the damaging effects of hydrochloric acid on the gastric mucosa. By increasing the pH of gastric juice, the drug also reduces pepsin activity. In addition, the aluminum contained in the drug may bind to pepsin and bile acids, which has a beneficial effect in the treatment of peptic ulcer disease. The drug has a local effect depending on the time it is in the stomach. Magnesium hydroxide may have a laxative effect due to the formation of sparingly soluble salts (eg sulphates) in the intestine. Aluminum hydroxide exhibits a slower and weaker neutralizing effect, but thanks to its astringent properties it has a breathtaking effect. The drug has a local effect practically without general effects due to the fact that the absorption of active substances from the gastrointestinal tract is small. As a result of the neutralization reaction of hydrated aluminum oxide and magnesium hydroxide, chlorides form in the stomach, which are then excreted in the form of salts mainly in the faeces.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation. Severe renal failure. Hypophosphatemia. Stenosis of the large intestine. Simultaneous use of drugs or dietary supplements in the form of tablets. effervescent citric acid, especially in patients with impaired renal function.
Precautions:
Due to the potential for accumulation of magnesium and aluminum ions, caution should be used in patients with renal or hemodialysis insufficiency. Long-term use of aluminum compounds in high doses in dialysis patients may cause or worsen osteomalacia and increase the risk of encephalopathy. In addition, the use of the drug may cause kidney failure due to the deposition of magnesium-ammonium phosphate. Caution should be exercised in children under 6 years, especially dehydrated or with mild to moderate renal impairment. The drug contains sorbitol - it should not be used in patients with rare hereditary problems of fructose intolerance.
Pregnancy and lactation:
The drug should be used with caution during pregnancy and during breastfeeding. Animal studies do not reveal any adverse effects associated with the use of hydrated aluminum oxide and magnesium hydroxide during pregnancy and during breastfeeding. No controlled human studies have been performed. Do not use this medicine for a long time.
Side effects:
Frequency not known: constipation, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, light stool. Long-term use of the drug in high doses may lead to renal failure, osteomalacia and encephalopathy.
Dosage:
Oral: usually 2 tablets 3 times a day, after about 1.5 hours after each basic meal and 2 tables. immediately before bedtime, possibly in case of pain. Maximum 12 tabl. per day. The drug should not be used continuously for more than 4 weeks. Table. Crumble or crack before using.
