Heartburn (also occurring during pregnancy), gastro-intestinal reflux (acid reflux), hiatal hernia. Supportive or ad hoc in chronic gastritis, reflux oesophagitis, peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum.
Composition:
1 tabl contains 350 mg of alginic acid, 120 mg of sodium bicarbonate and 100 mg of aluminum hydroxide. The product contains sucrose.
Action:
A combined preparation with an antacid that covers the mucosa of the esophagus, stomach and duodenum. Aluminum hydroxide and sodium bicarbonate have antacid in the stomach. Alginic acid in the environment of gastric juice forms a jelly-like gel that protects the mucous membrane of the stomach and esophagus from the acidic gastric contents. Sodium hydroxide in the stomach reacts quickly with hydrochloric acid, resulting in the formation of sodium chloride, carbon dioxide and water. Sodium and bicarbonates are excreted through the kidneys. Aluminum hydroxide is slowly soluble in the stomach, resulting in the reaction with hydrochloric acid, aluminum chloride and water. About 17-30% of aluminum chloride is absorbed intestinal and excreted through the kidneys. The remainder is transformed in the small intestine into insoluble and poorly absorbed aluminum compounds that form insoluble aluminum phosphates in the small intestine excreted in the stool. Alginic acid is insoluble in water and alcohol. It is not metabolized and is not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, it is excreted in faeces in the unchanged form.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation. Severe renal failure.
Precautions:
Particularly cautiously used in people with renal insufficiency (due to the possibility of accumulating aluminum ions), cirrhosis, congestive heart failure, edema (due to the content of sodium bicarbonate), diabetes (preparation contains sugar) and in pregnancy poisoning. Carefully use in children up to 6 years, especially dehydrated or with renal insufficiency. Due to the sucrose content, the preparation should not be used in patients with fructose intolerance, sucrase-isomaltase deficiency or malabsorption of glucose-galactose.
Pregnancy and lactation:
In pregnancy, due to the sodium content, use only when the expected benefits of treatment are greater than the risk of edema. Take special care in pregnancy poisoning. Antacids containing aluminum, slow the development of the fetus. Caution should be exercised, especially during the first trimester of pregnancy. The drug can be administered during pregnancy and breastfeeding if it is administered at the recommended doses and as indicated. Aluminum has a negative effect on semen and reproduction in men, so do not use the drug for a long time before the planned conception.
Side effects:
Constipation and excessive loss of phosphorus. Long-term use in dialysis patients may cause or exacerbate osteomalacia and increase the risk of encephalopathy. Long-term use of aluminum compounds may cause electrolyte disturbances (increase in aluminum concentration, decrease in phosphate concentration). In addition, the preparation may affect the acid-base balance.
Dosage:
Oral: Adults and children over 12 years: 2 tablets once. Children up to 12 years: 1 tabl. once. Most often, they are used for 1 h and / or 3 h after a meal and at bedtime. If any symptoms occur, apply 4-6 times a day. Before swallowing a tablet, it is necessary to thoroughly break up (to obtain a paste).
