Symptomatic treatment of complaints associated with hyperacidity of gastric juice, such as: heartburn, indigestion, flatulence, nausea, fullness or severity in the epigastric region, belching.
Composition:
1 tabl contains 680 mg of Calcium carbonate (272 mg of calcium) and 80 mg of Magnesium of heavy carbonate. The product contains sucrose.
Action:
The preparation contains two neutralizing substances (calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate). It works locally, neutralizes hydrochloric acid in the stomach. It is not absorbed into the bloodstream. In the stomach, calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate react with gastric juice to form water and soluble mineral salts. Small amounts of calcium and magnesium may be absorbed in this form. The degree of absorption depends on the dose administered. About 10% of the administered dose of calcium and 15-20% of magnesium is absorbed. In healthy people, small amounts of calcium and magnesium that have been absorbed are usually quickly excreted through the kidneys. In patients with renal insufficiency, serum calcium and magnesium levels may be increased. Insoluble calcium and magnesium salts formed in the gut are then excreted in the faeces.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to the active substances or to any of the excipients. Hypercalcemia and / or conditions causing hypercalcaemia. Kidney stones with stones containing calcium deposits. Severe renal failure. Hypophosphatemia.
Precautions:
Avoid prolonged use of the drug. If the symptoms persist, or only partially disappear, seek additional medical advice. The drug should be used with caution in patients with renal insufficiency. In these patients, serum Calcium, phosphate and magnesium should be monitored regularly. The preparation should not be used in the case of hypercalciuria. Prolonged intake of the product at high doses may cause side effects such as hypercalcaemia, hypermagnesaemia and dairy-alkaline syndrome, especially in patients with renal insufficiency. The drug should not be taken with large amounts of milk or dairy products. Long-term use of the drug increases the risk of kidney stones. The product contains sucrose (475 mg / tabl.) - it should not be used in patients with rare inherited disorders associated with fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption or sucrase-isomaltase deficiency. The product contains sodium (0.17 mg / table) - this should be taken into account in patients with reduced renal function and in patients who are controlling sodium in the diet. If the symptoms of the disease do not disappear after 7 days, the physician should re-evaluate the clinical condition.
Pregnancy and lactation:
The preparation can be used during pregnancy and lactation at the recommended doses and as indicated. However, long-term use of high doses should be avoided. Pregnant women should limit the use of the product to the maximum recommended daily dose.
Side effects:
Long-term use of high doses, especially in patients with renal impairment, may cause hypermagnesaemia (in the case of antacids containing magnesium) or hypercalcemia and alkalosis, which may cause gastrointestinal symptoms and muscle weakness. Hypersensitivity reactions have been reported very rarely. Clinical signs may include rash, urticaria, angioneurotic edema and anaphylactic shock. In addition, you may experience: nausea, vomiting, stomach discomfort and diarrhea, muscle weakness. Side effects occurring only in the context of the milk-alkaline syndrome: taste disorders, calcification and weakness, headaches, azotemia.
Dosage:
Orally. Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age: single dose: 1-2 tabl. for sucking or chewing. It is recommended to take the drug 1 h after a meal and at bedtime. In the event of heartburn or pain, you can take an additional 1-2 tabl. between regular dosing hours. Do not take more than 11 tables. within 24 hours. The maximum period of self-healing for a patient is 7 days.If the symptoms do not improve, the patient should consult a physician, as diagnosis is recommended to rule out a more serious illness.
