To be used to clean the intestines before carrying out any tests or diagnostic procedures requiring a clean intestine, e.g. colonoscopy or radiographic imaging.
Composition:
1 sachet contains: 0.01 g of sodium picosulphate, 3.50 g of Magnesium oxide, 10.97 g of citric acid; the drug contains potassium - 5 mmol (195 mg) / sasz.
Action:
An oral laxative. Sodium Pikosulfate is a laxative that works locally in the colon. Magnesium citrate works by inducing osmotic diarrhea, retaining water in the colon. The combined effect of the ingredients has a strong rinse effect combined with the stimulation of peristaltic motions. Both sodium picosulphate and magnesium citrate act locally within the colon and are non-resorbable.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to any of the components of the drug. Congestive heart failure. Severe dehydration. Hypermagnesaemia. Delayed gastric emptying. Peptic ulcer of the stomach and intestines. Active, inflammatory bowel disease, e.g. Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis. Toxic colitis. Colonic paralysis. Bowel obstruction. Nausea and vomiting. Ascites. acute abdominal conditions requiring surgical intervention, such as acute appendicitis or diagnosed or suspected intestinal obstruction or perforation. Rhabdomyolysis. In patients with severe renal impairment, magnesium may accumulate in the blood; in such cases other preparations should be used.
Precautions:
Do not use the drug as a laxative of daily use. The electrolyte concentration should be evaluated before and after the application. Particularly cautiously (after considering the risk / benefit ratio), use in elderly patients, patients with a debilitated organism and patients at risk for hypokalemia or hyponatraemia, due to the possibility of severe and potentially fatal electrolyte imbalance. Caution should be exercised in patients with water and / or electrolyte imbalance or taking drugs that affect water and / or electrolyte balance, such as diuretics, corticosteroids, lit. The time taken to cleanse the intestines should not exceed 24 hours, because a longer preparatory period may increase the risk of water and electrolyte imbalance. Exercise caution in patients who have recently undergone gastrointestinal surgery, renal failure, mild or moderate dehydration, hypotension or heart disease. It should be taken into account that the preparation may affect the absorption of regular oral medications. Potassium content: 5 mmol (195 mg) potassium / sasz. Should be considered in patients with impaired renal function and in patients controlling the content of potassium in the diet.
Pregnancy and lactation:
Due to the laxative effect of picosulphate, the use of the drug during pregnancy should be avoided. Due to the pharmacokinetic properties of active substances, use during lactation may be considered.
Side effects:
Very common: abdominal pain. Common: sleep disorders, headache, dry mouth, nausea, distention of the large intestine, discomfort in the anal area, pain in the anal area, thirst, tiredness. Uncommon: dizziness, orthostatic hypotension, vomiting, fecal incontinence. Not known: hypersensitivity reactions, anaphylactoid reactions, hyponatremia, epilepsy, grand mal seizures, seizures, confusion, diarrhea (is the primary clinical symptom associated with the use of the drug), bloating, rash (including erythema and maculopapular rash), urticaria , pruritus, purpura, pain. Hyponatremia with or without convulsions has been reported. In patients with epilepsy, grand mal seizures / seizures without coexistence of hyponatraemia have been reported.
Dosage:
Orally. Adults aged ≥ 18 years (including the elderly): 1 sasz.mixed with water, the day before the examination or treatment before 8 am. The second one is 6-8 hours later. The day before the planned examination or surgery, it is recommended to include a low-fat diet. When using the product, it is recommended to take about 250 ml / h of water or other clean liquid to prevent dehydration.
