Constipation. Prevention and treatment of hepatic encephalopathy.
Composition:
15 ml of syrup contains 9.75 g of lactulose.
Action:
The product contains a synthetic disaccharide which, after oral administration, is degraded by the bacterial flora in the large intestine, mainly to lactic and acetic acid. Laxative effects are caused by direct stimulation of intestinal peristalsis by acids and an increase in osmotic pressure (caused by acids and sugars), resulting in increased volume of the intestinal content, which indirectly stimulates peristalsis. The reduction of the concentration of ammonia in the blood is related to: reduction of intestinal pH (which causes that ammonia passes directly from the blood to the acid content of the intestine and leads to ionization of ammonia, which is in this form non-absorbable and non-toxic), reduction of proteolytic enzymes for enzymes sararolithic (due to the increased carbohydrate concentration), the nitrogen deficit arising for the entire bacterial flora in the colon due to the increase in carbohydrate concentration, which is compensated by the consumption of ammonia coming from the decomposition of microorganisms. In the case of hepatic encephalopathy, Lactulose reduces the concentration of ammonia in the blood by about 25-50. 0.4-2% of lactulose is absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and excreted unchanged in the urine.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation. Bowel obstruction. Inflammation of the digestive tract. Disorders of water and electrolyte management. Hereditary fructose intolerance. Disorders in the release of lactase. Galactosemia. Disorders of intestinal Glucose and galactose absorption.
Precautions:
Use with caution in patients with diabetes. In infants and young children, make sure that there is no autosomal-recessive hereditary fructose intolerance.
Pregnancy and lactation:
During pregnancy and breastfeeding, use only if absolutely necessary.
Side effects:
Initially, abdominal pain, flatulence or flatulence can occur very commonly. After high doses, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea with electrolyte imbalance were observed. With prolonged use, water and electrolyte imbalance may occur. Hypatatremia is very rare when treating hepatic encephalopathy.
Dosage:
Orally, individually.constipationAdults: 10-15 ml 1-2 times / day.Hepatic encephalopathy: Adults: initially 10-15 ml 3 times / day, then 30-45 ml 3-4 times / day. Dosage should be adjusted so that the patient excretes loose stool 2-3 times / day. Children - no data available. The preparation can be administered after dilution with water or other liquids, regardless of meals.
