1 g oral solution contains 998.75 mg of liquid paraffin.
Action:
Laxative preparation. Liquid paraffin inhibits the absorption of water and coats the intestinal mucosa, which causes softening of faecal masses and facilitates defecation.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation. Abdominal pain with undetermined cause, acute gastrointestinal inflammation, e.g. appendicitis, ulcerative colitis and rectal bleeding, swallowing disorders, colostomy or ileostomy, diverticulitis, nausea and vomiting.
Precautions:
Patients with swallowing disorders or certain neurological disorders should be careful not to aspirate and enter paraffin into the airways. In children and the elderly, the use of the medicine should be limited to what is really necessary, using the minimum effective doses for the shortest possible time.
Pregnancy and lactation:
The product should be used with caution during pregnancy and during breastfeeding, due to lack of tests.
Side effects:
Prolonged and non-prescribed use of the preparation may lead to disturbances of fluid and electrolyte balance and secondary constipation.
Dosage:
Orally. 15-45 ml (1-3 tablespoons) overnight, though not immediately before bedtime or in the morning on an empty stomach. Effects occurring a few hours after application. In case of worsening of symptoms or lack of laxative effect within 1-2 days, the justification should be considered.
