Treatment of chronic constipation. The preparation facilitates defecation in case of stool impaction, defined as spastic constipation, when fecal mass fills the rectum and / or intestine, which is confirmed by physical examination of the abdomen and rectum.
Composition:
1 sachet contains: 13,125 g of macrogol 3350, 350.7 mg of sodium chloride, 46.6 mg of potassium chloride, 178.5 mg of sodium bicarbonate.
Action:
An oral laxative with an osmotic effect. Macrogol increases the volume of stool, which causes colonic movements through neuromuscular stimulation - it intensifies peristalsis and transports softened stool. The electrolytes given together with macrogol are exchanged through the intestinal mucosa with serum electrolytes and then excreted in the faeces. In total, it does not cause any profit or loss of sodium, potassium or water. Macrogol is practically not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and is not metabolised.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation. Perforation or obstruction of the intestine caused by structural or functional disturbances of the intestinal wall, severe intestinal inflammatory conditions such as Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis or toxic dilation of the colon (giant colon).
Precautions:
If it is necessary to take laxatives daily, the cause of constipation should be investigated. If you do not improve after 2 weeks of using the product, please consult your doctor. In the event of any symptoms indicative of disturbance of water and electrolyte management (eg edema, dyspnea, fatigue, dehydration, heart failure), the preparation should be immediately stopped, electrolyte measurement should be performed and appropriate treatment should be required. It may be necessary to take the product for a longer period of time in the case of severe chronic or spastic constipation, caused for example by multiple sclerosis or Parkinson's disease, or constipation caused by the intake of other drugs, especially opioids or antimuscarin preparations. The drug is not recommended for use in children under 12 years of age due to the lack of clinical data on use.
Pregnancy and lactation:
Due to the lack of clinical data on use during pregnancy and breastfeeding, the preparation should only be used if it is considered necessary by the doctor.
