1 capsule contains 78.95 mg of dry extract from the bark of the buckthorn, corresponding to 15 mg of anthracene glycosides based on glucofrangulin A.
Action:
Preparation of natural origin with a laxative effect.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to the bark of the buckthorn. It should not be used in ileus, stricture or atony of the gut, appendicitis, inflammation of the colon (Crohn's disease, colitis), abdominal pain of unknown cause, dehydration of the body due to loss of water and electrolytes. Do not use in children under 12 years.
Precautions:
Use with cardiac glycosides, antiarrhythmics, QT prolongation, diuretics, adrenocorticoids or Licorice root with caution. In patients with stool encephalitis and acute or persistent gastrointestinal complaints of unknown cause, the preparation should not be used unless strictly necessary. Long-term laxatives should be avoided. When using for more than 7 days, there is a risk of addiction (the need to increase the dose, intestinal atony, worsening constipation). If the preparation is used for more than 1-2 weeks, a patient check is required.
Pregnancy and lactation:
Do not use during pregnancy and breast-feeding.
Side effects:
In individual cases, you may experience systolic abdominal pain, liquid stools especially in patients with irritable bowel syndrome (these are the most common symptoms of overdose, the dose should be reduced). Long-term use may lead to fluid and electrolyte imbalance with subsequent hypokalaemia and intestinal atony. Chronic use may cause reversible pigmentation changes in the mucous membrane of the large intestine, proteinuria and hematuria may occur. The metabolites of anthelminths of the buckthorn bark change the color of the urine (yellow or red-brown depending on the pH), have no clinical significance and may cause false results.
Dosage:
Orally. Adults and children over 12 years: 1-2 capsules once a day in the evening, after the last meal. Laxative action takes place 8-12 hours after application of the drug. The first use is recommended to take 1 capsule, if the answer is satisfactory, do not increase the dose. In the absence of a response, a dose of 2 capsules per day should be used. It is not recommended to use the product more often than 2-3 times a week and for longer than 1-2 weeks. The maximum daily dose of anthracene glycosides is 30 mg (2 capsules).
