Symptomatic treatment of constipation. Cleansing the intestines before the diagnostic examination (eg colonoscopy) and before the intestinal surgical procedures.
Composition:
25 ml of concentrate contains 13,125 g of macrogol 4000.
Action:
An oral laxative with an osmotic effect. Macrogols (high molecular weight polyethylene glycols) are long, linear polymers with the ability to bind water. After oral administration, they increase the volume of intestinal fluids, which determines the laxative effect of the preparation. Macrogol is not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and is not metabolised.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to polyethylene glycol or other components of the preparation. Abdominal pain of unknown etiology. Intestinal obstruction or suspicion. Narrowing, perforation or risk of perforation within the gastrointestinal tract. Gastric emptying disorders. acute gastrointestinal ulcer. Severe inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis -colitis ulcerosa, toxic colon, toxic or rapidly progressing colitis). Failure of the cardiovascular system. Renal failure. Liver disease. Severe dehydration. Children and adolescents under 18 years of age. Do not use in unconscious or unconscious patients, in patients prone to aspiration or regurgitation, and with swallowing reflex disorders and throat reflex.
Precautions:
Particularly cautiously used in patients with impaired water and electrolyte management, reflux oesophagitis, cardiac arrhythmias and in the elderly. In the event of symptoms indicating water and electrolyte disturbances (edema, dyspnea, fatigue, dehydration, weakness of the heart), the product should be immediately discontinued and the electrolyte concentration measured.
Pregnancy and lactation:
During pregnancy and breastfeeding, use only if definitely needed.
Side effects:
In the treatment of constipation - uncommon: abdominal pain, bloating, intestinal cramps, nausea; in individual cases: hypersensitivity reactions. In the cleansing of the intestines - often: nausea, feelings of fullness, bloating; less frequently: vomiting, stomach cramps, anal irritation, malaise, insomnia; in individual cases: arrhythmia, tachycardia, pulmonary edema, decreased blood Calcium, urticaria, rhinorrhea, allergic dermatitis. The literature documented cases in which Mallory-Weiss syndrome (longitudinal rupture of the gastric mucosa in the area of the cardia) occurred as a result of vomiting after administration of an intestinal polyethylene glycol cleansing solution.
Dosage:
Orally, adults. Treatment of constipation -125 ml of solution ready to drink (25 ml of concentrate dissolved in 100 ml of water) 2-3 times a day; Elderly: 125 ml of solution once a day. Use no longer than 2 weeks. Bowel cleansing before the test or procedure - 3-4 l of the ready-to-drink solution (200 ml of concentrate dissolved in 800 ml of water) before testing, drinking 200-300 ml of solution every 10 min. It can be given as one dose (in the evening, on the day before or on the day of the study) or in two doses (part in the evening of the day before the test and the rest on the day of the test).
