Mucosal diseases of the oral cavity: recurrent aphthys; erosions; ulcers; decubitus (including prosthetic); herpes simple recurrent; entanglement of mouth angles; Wilson's lichee scars. Periodontal disease - superficial and deep. The Ointment is used as a complementary treatment for basic therapy. As an aid to the Stevens-Johnson team.
Composition:
1 g ointment contains 100 mg framycetin sulphate (equivalent to 65,000 IU framycetin), 150 mg papain (equivalent to 900,000 U.USP) and 80 mg sodium benzoate.
Action:
Ointment with local antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties for use on oral and parodontium mucous membranes. It contains framycetin - an aminoglycoside antibiotic with a broad spectrum of action. It works mainly on Gram-negative bacteria, less on Gram-positive. Sensitive are:Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, Enterobacter, Proteus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Brucella, Neisseria, Pasteurella, to a lesser extent it works on actinomyces, spirochetes, protozoa and some fungi; does not work on anaerobes. Papain is a mixture of proteolytic enzymes obtained from the juice of immature fruit of the proper papaya. It exhibits fibrinolytic properties, cleanses the wound by dissolving necrotic tissues, clot and oil, facilitating access to an inflammatory focus. In addition, it destroys peptides responsible for congestion and swelling of tissues. Sodium benzoate has a bacteriostatic effect on framycin-resistant bacteria. Framycetin and papain are hardly absorbed through the oral mucosa and are not absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract. Sodium benzoate can be absorbed through the oral mucosa, it is quickly inactivated in the liver by conjugation to Glycine and conversion to hypuric acid excreted in the urine.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to the active substances or to any of the excipients. Mouth ulcers. Newborns and infants. Children who can not comply with the recommendations (they will not be able to refrain from eating the preparation immediately). Do not use when eating or drinking. Use in children is acceptable (should not be used in newborns and infants and in children who can not comply with the recommendations, ie in children who will not be able to refrain from immediate consumption of the preparation).
Precautions:
Avoid swallowing saliva after applying an ointment to the oral mucosa. Long-term topical use of antibiotics may lead to excessive growth of non-susceptible microorganisms, including fungi. The resistance of bacteria to framycetin may also develop. If irritation or hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients develops, stop taking the medicine and contact your doctor. Aminoglycoside antibiotics can cause irreversible, partial or complete deafness when administered systemically or when applied topically to open wounds or damaged skin. This effect depends on the dose and increases in the case of renal or hepatic failure.
Pregnancy and lactation:
Ingredients of the preparation are practically not absorbed after topical application, however, due to the lack of sufficient data, the preparation should not be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding unless it is necessary, after considering the benefit-risk ratio.
Side effects:
Rare: local hypersensitivity reactions (redness, swelling), irritation of the oral mucosa.
Dosage:
Outwardly. In diseases of the oral mucosa, the ointment is applied in the form of wraps or rubbing (for 2 minutes) 3 times a day for 4-6 days. In periodontal diseases, the ointment is applied 2 to 3 times a day, for 4-6 days on the marginal periodontium, by lubricating gently affected areas. The ointment should be used after eating and drinking, after cleaning the oral cavity from food debris, preferably by thoroughly brushing your teeth. After applying the ointment do not eat or drink for at least 30 minutes. Avoid swallowing saliva after applying an ointment.
