Inflammation of the mucous membrane of the mouth and throat. Pain and throat swelling associated with inflammation. Supportive in the antibiotic therapy of mucous membranes of the mouth and throat caused by some microorganisms. In addition, sugar-free pills are indicated in the dental treatment of inflammatory conditions of the gums and periodontal tissues.
Composition:
One lozenge or one sugar-free tablet contains 150 mg of choline salicylate.
Action:
A derivative of salicylic acid having anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects. It reduces swelling and congestion of the mucous membrane of the mouth and throat. The mechanism of action is the inhibition of prostaglandin cyclooxygenase activity. The addition of choline results in increased salivation, which complements the anti-inflammatory effect of the preparation. Choline salicylate also has a weak bactericidal effect.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to salicylates and other NSAIDs and other components of the preparation. Do not administer to persons with esophageal varices (risk of haemorrhage).
Precautions:
Use cautiously in people with inflammatory conditions of the gastrointestinal tract, peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum, and bronchial asthma. Tablets with sugar should not be used in patients with rare inherited disorders associated with fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption or sucrase-isomaltase deficiency, as well as be cautious when administered in people with diabetes and with a tendency to caries. Non-sugar tablets should not be used in patients with rare hereditary fructose intolerance. Tablets without sugar should not be used in people with phenylketonuria due to the content of aspartame. In children under 12 years, the indication for administration of salicylates should be determined by the physician due to the possibility of Reye's syndrome.
Pregnancy and lactation:
Pregnancy is not recommended. During breastfeeding, it can only be used if clearly necessary, when the anticipated benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus or fed child.
Side effects:
Rare: allergic reactions (redness of the skin and rashes, coughing, nasal congestion, swelling of the face, tongue, lips, difficulty in swallowing or difficulty in breathing), damage to the gastrointestinal mucosa (abdominal pain, vomiting, bleeding). Very rarely in children under 12 years there is a possibility of Reye's syndrome.
Dosage:
Orally. Adults and children over 12 years old: suck 1 tablet 4-6 times a day.
