Preventive and curative in light and medium-heavy inflammation of the mouth and throat.
Composition:
1 tabl for sucking contains 1.5 mg of cetylpyridinium chloride. The preparation contains sorbitol.
Action:
Cetylpyridinium chloride has a mild local disinfecting effect. Bactericidal for Gram-positive, Gram-negative bacteria, works on fungi (Candida albicans), does not affect mycobacteria. It inhibits bacterial metabolism by blocking essential enzymatic systems, influences bacterial cytoadhesal mechanisms, increases the permeability of the cytoplasmic membrane of microorganisms and destroys it. It is absorbed very weakly, at most 15% of the digestive tract. As the acid reaction increases in the gastrointestinal tract, it is increasingly inactivated. It will also be damaged by anionic substances and lipids. It is excreted from the body in an unchanged form.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation. Fructose intolerance. Do not use in young children due to the chance of accidentally choking with the tablet.
Precautions:
Due to the sorbitol content (1 lozenge contains 742.35 mg of sorbitol), the drug should not be used in patients with rare hereditary fructose intolerance. Warn the patient that severe infections with high temperature, headaches, nausea and vomiting require consultation with a physician, especially if the symptoms worsen or do not improve after three days. The use of more tablets than is recommended may cause irritation to the oral mucosa, diarrhea (especially in children), nausea and vomiting. In the event of an allergic reaction, the patient should contact a physician. Use in children under the age of 6 is not recommended.
Pregnancy and lactation:
There are no data on the safety of use in pregnant or breast-feeding women, or these data are insufficient, however, cetylpyridinium chloride has been widely used for many years without clear clinical consequences.
Side effects:
Rare allergic reactions (eg urticaria, rash), burning sensation in the mouth, nausea, transient disturbances of taste.
Dosage:
Orally. Adults and youth: 1 tabl. every 1-2 hours (maximum of 8 tables per day). Children over 6 years: 1 tabl. every 2-3 h (maximum 6 tables per day). Suck slowly on one tablet.
