Endodontic treatment of pulp gangrene. Non-routine treatment of advanced forms of periodontitis. Periodontal abscesses. Ulcerative gingivitis.
Composition:
1 g Ointment contains 100 mg of metronidazole.
Action:
Chemotherapeutic agent, 5-nitroimidazole derivative. Bactericidal effect on anaerobic Gram-negative bacteria (incl.Bacteroides spp., Fusobacterium spp., Veillonella spp.) and anaerobic Gram-positive bacteria (incl.Eubacterium spp., Clostridium spp., Peptostreptococcus spp.). It also has anti-inflammatory effects. Metronidazole is metabolised in the liver. It binds to small plasma proteins up to 20%. It dissolves well in lipids and penetrates into tissues and body fluids. 80% of the administered dose is excreted in the urine and about 15% in the faeces.
Contraindications:
For the treatment of periodontal disease: hypersensitivity metronidazole or other components of the preparation, pregnancy, breastfeeding period, cachexia (especially in children and the elderly). In endodontic treatment: no contraindications.

Pregnancy and lactation:
In the treatment of periodontal disease during pregnancy and breastfeeding, the use of the preparation is contraindicated. In other cases, use during pregnancy and breast-feeding is not recommended.
Side effects:
Gastrointestinal disorders (nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain) have been observed.
Dosage:
In the treatment of tooth pulp gangrene, as a time insert between visits: the ointment is inserted with the Lentulo needle into the cleaned and drained canal. In the case of an acute condition, the dressing changes daily until the exacerbation stops and in a chronic condition the dressing is left for 2-3 days (no more than 5-7 days). In advanced cases of periodontitis - as a supplement to basic treatment - gingiva is gently rubbed twice a day. In the treatment of periodontal abscesses, after decompressing the abscess, the ointment is inserted into the pathological gingival pocket, and then begins causative treatment. In ulcerative gingivitis gently rubs the gums 2-3 times a day; after 3-5 days, the oral cavity is restored. The product should be used for 7-10 days.
