Supplementing deficiency in the body and treatment of metabolic consequences of hypovitaminosis. Helpful in states of reduced immunity, in the course of infectious diseases and during recovery, in the treatment of iron deficiency anemia and to accelerate the process of healing and wound scarring.
Composition:
One capsule contains 500 mg of ascorbic acid.
Action:
Vitamin C - Ascorbic acid - is an essential compound for the body. It plays an important role in oxidoreductive processes, affects the transformation of aromatic amino acids, thyroxine metabolism and the synthesis of catecholamines, steroid hormones and insulin. He participates in the processes of Glucose phosphorylation and glycogen synthesis. In cases of vitamin C deficiency, hyaluronic acid synthesis, collagen synthesis disorders, abnormal connective tissue function and ossification processes occur. There are signs of vascular defect, faulty formation of tooth enamel, changes in the gums and oral mucous membranes. Facilitates the absorption of iron and participates in the synthesis of hemoglobin. It has a stimulating effect on the immune system of the body, probably by affecting the synthesis of Interferon and antibodies. It is well absorbed from the digestive tract. It is excreted through the kidneys, slightly reduces the pH of the urine.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to ascorbic acid or other components of the preparation. Urinary oxalate, thalassemia, sideroblastic anemia, hemochromatosis and congenital deficiency of G-6-P dehydrogenase.
Precautions:
Carefully used in patients during radio and chemotherapy. The use of ascorbic acid in a daily dose of more than 1 g may falsify the results of blood and urine analyzes based on oxidation and reduction reactions.
Pregnancy and lactation:
Vitamin C is excreted in human milk. Taking large amounts of ascorbic acid during pregnancy and breast-feeding is not recommended due to the potential harmful effects of ascorbic acid on offspring.
Side effects:
Ascorbic acid is generally well tolerated. High doses (over 1g per day used over a long period of time) may cause gastrointestinal disturbances (diarrhea, heartburn) or urinary tract (increased risk of gout, cystin and oxalate stones). The drug may cause allergic reactions due to the content of dyes in the capsule shell.
Dosage:
Orally. Adults and children over 12 years of age: usually 1 capsule once to twice daily (500 to 1000 mg).
