Treatment of clinical symptoms resulting from a deficiency of vitamin A and vitamin E.
Composition:
One capsule contains 30,000 IU. vitamin A and 70 mg of vitamin E. The product contains peanut oil.
Action:
A combined preparation containing vitamin A and vitamin E. Vitamin A in humans is essential for the normal process of seeing, reproducing, growing, regenerating and differentiating epithelial functions, as well as for the growth and development of bones and for maintaining the integrity of the mucous membrane. Vitamin A is a cofactor in the synthesis of mucopolysaccharides, cholesterol and hydroxysteroid metabolism. Its deficiency leads, among others for twilight blindness, xerophthalmia, keratalatosis, skin changes (including hyperkeratosis of the skin, metaplasia of epithelial mucous membranes), and in severe cases permanent damage to eyes and blindness. Vitamin E, which has strong antioxidant properties, prevents the formation of free oxygen radicals and lipid peroxides. It protects polyunsaturated fatty acids against oxidation, stabilizes cell membranes and lipid intracellular structures. It affects prostaglandin biosynthesis and platelet aggregation. After oral administration, vitamin A is quickly and completely absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, mainly in the duodenum. In patients with liver and pancreatic diseases, fat absorption disorders, parasitic infestations and gastrointestinal inflammation, cystic fibrosis, as well as during the low-protein diet and when using high doses of vitamin A, its reduced absorption is observed. 90% of vitamin A, Retinol palmitate and small amounts of retinol are deposited in the liver. The remaining amounts are collected in the kidneys, muscles and adrenal glands. It penetrates, among others through the placenta. It is partially metabolised in the liver. Retinal, retinoic acid and other water-soluble metabolites are excreted in the urine and faeces. T0,5 ranges from a few weeks to months. Absorption of vitamin E increases in the presence of fats and depends on the proper function of the pancreas. As the dose is increased, the absorption decreases. Vitamin E is distributed to all tissues and is slowly deposited in muscles, liver and adipose tissue. It also accumulates in the eyeball, mainly in the choroid, vitreous body and retina. Vitamin E partially penetrates the placenta and into the milk of mothers. Most of vitamin E is excreted in bile. It is partially metabolised in the liver and excreted as metabolites in the urine. T0,5 is about 2 weeks
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to vitamin A or E or other ingredients of the preparation. Hypervitaminosis A or E. Malabsorption syndrome. Pregnancy and breastfeeding. Hypersensitivity to peanuts or soy.
Precautions:
Do not use other medications containing vitamin A and / or vitamin E during treatment due to possible symptoms of overdose. In the case of long-term use of vitamin A (several weeks, several months) doses from 10,000 IU. daily, in patients with impaired liver or kidney function, low body weight (eg children), hypoproteinemia, alcohol abuse, symptoms of overdose may occur. Use with caution in the case of liver disease and patients with alcoholism due to the possibility of further liver damage. Special care should be taken in patients with impaired renal function. The drug contains peanut oil (from peanuts); if you are allergic to peanut or soy, do not use this preparation.
Pregnancy and lactation:
The preparation is contraindicated in pregnancy due to the high content of vitamin A. Vitamin A and E are excreted in human milk. Do not breast-feed during treatment.
Side effects:
If dosing recommendations are followed, the preparation usually does not cause side effects.Long-term (weeks, months) use of vitamin A in high doses greater than 3000 μg (10,000 IU) per day may lead to symptoms of overdose. Frequency unknown: irritability, depression, mental disorders, anorexia, increased intracranial pressure, drowsiness, long-lasting headaches, dizziness, nystagmus, photophobia, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, enlarged liver and spleen, hyperkeratosis, skin changes and membrane changes mucus, hair dryness, cracking and bleeding of the lips, baldness, erythema, hyperpigmentation, peeling of the skin, rash, bone and joint pain, fatigue, malaise, mild fever, weight loss or weight gain, weakness, tenderness tenderness. The use of vitamin E in doses higher than 300 units (220 mg) daily may rarely cause side effects; these symptoms disappear after discontinuation of vitamin E. Frequency unknown: decreased serum thyroxine and triiodothyronine, elevated estrogen and androgen levels in the urine, emotional disturbance, headache, blurred vision, blurred vision, thrombophlebitis, nausea, diarrhea, cramps intestines, rash, creatinuria, gonadal disorders, breast tenderness, fatigue, weakness, elevation of creatinine kinase, cholesterol and triglycerides.
Dosage:
Orally. Adults and children over 12 years: 1 capsule once a day.
