Water for injections is used to dissolve and dilute parenteral medications.
Composition:
1 amp. contains 5 ml or 10 ml of water for injections.
Action:
Solvent for preparing perenteral medicines.
Contraindications:
Precautions:
Due to the risk of intravascular hemolysis, parenteral water should not be administered intravenously in excess of 50 ml without added osmolarity to a value equal to at least half the normal plasma osmolarity. For example, an intravenous infusion can be made only after mixing with at least an equal volume of isotonic 0.9% NaCl or 5% Glucose solution.
Pregnancy and lactation:
There are no contraindications for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Side effects:
Intravenous injection of water for injections alone may result in intravascular hemolysis. The possibility of other unwanted activities depends on the properties of the added drugs.
Dosage:
Adults and children: follow the instructions given in the information prints of the drug to be diluted or dissolved.
