Solvent for solutions for parenteral administration, or as a diluent for ready electrolyte concentrates.
Composition:
Water for injections.
Action:
Water for injections is a sterile, pyrogen-free liquid intended for solution for intravenous administration or used as a diluent for ready-made electrolyte concentrates.
Contraindications:
Contraindications for dissolved or diluted substances should be considered as well as general contraindications for fluid administration: decompensated heart failure, pulmonary edema and cerebral edema, renal dysfunction (oliguria, anuria), conduction.
Precautions:
Due to the risk of intravascular hemolysis, water for parenteral use can not be administered intravenously (in excess of 50 ml) alone or without the addition of osmolarity increasing solution to at least half of the normal osmolarity of the plasma. It can be administered intravenously together with at least an equal volume of isotonic NaCl solution (0.9%) or Glucose 5%. When mixing water for injections with medicines, aseptic rules should be followed.
Pregnancy and lactation:
Not applicable, safety of use depends on the substance being dissolved.
Side effects:
Hypervolemia, irritation at the injection site, inflammation or inflammation of the vein at the injection site may occur due to the route of administration.
Dosage:
It depends on the type, concentration, volume and route of administration of the dissolved or diluted drug. The volume of fluids given to adults may only be greater than 2500-3000 ml per day in special cases. The preparation can be given intravenously only after the addition of active substances. The method of administration depends on the type and concentration of the drug administered.
