A phenomenon known in many different cultures - a male variant of pregnancy. Reports of the Kuvad syndrome are known from China, India, mythology of the Irish, Celts and Basques. Based on the descriptions, three forms of this team can be distinguished.
Cultural roles"pregnant man"
prenatal - consists in submitting to the "pregnant man" various dietary taboos, prohibition of hunting and carrying out various tasks.
The second option is a birth optionin which a woman who was having a childbirth took off in the shade, a man was left at home and surrounded by relatives quite convincingly and expressively "gave birth" to a child. Men suffered all the honors of parenthood while minimizing the role and position of the mother.
Postpartum variant it is less frequent - a man "feeds" a baby in it.
SyndromeKuvada
The syndrome occurs in many cultures dominated by men. Studies in contemporary Europe and the United States have shown that 20% of men experience similar phenomena during their partners' pregnancy. Symptoms vary: men experience intestinal disorders, nausea, vomiting, headaches, abdominal pain, abdominal pain, teeth, muscle tremors, changes in appetite, food intake, weight gain, even gynecomastia. It turned out that this phenomenon in men from non-traditional cultures is subconscious. This is a typical psychosomatic team. A father who is supposed to give birth to a child reveals the somatic symptoms that appear during a woman's pregnancy, although they do not have any physiological foundations. These symptoms usually appear in the first pregnancy of a woman, begin in the first trimester of pregnancy, and intensify in recent months, usually end with childbirth. This phenomenon is explained by subconscious mechanisms related to partner relations and other psychological conditions.
