Mohammedanism is one of the great monotheistic religions founded by Muhammad at the beginning of the seventh century AD The basic assumptions of this doctrine are contained in the Koran and tradition. According to the Koran, Allah created a man, among others with a drop of sperm.
Recognizing that God has a seed, treats sexuality as a good and as a natural sphere of human life, especially a man. Lack of contradiction between the secular and spiritual spheres, body and soul, the depreciation of the body is inconceivable, the man in Islam is the whole in psychosomatic terms. The Koran recommends respect for mothers, emphasizes the dignity of a woman and the higher position of a man, the value of marriage. Polygamy is also allowed, the optimal number of wives is four. Limiting the number of wives was associated with the obligation to care for their subsistence.
Marriage is a civil contract concluded voluntarily by a woman and a man in the presence of two witnesses. The requirements are: majority, good health and lack of relationship. There are marriages made by minors, but they can be annulled after the spouses have reached adulthood. After the marriage, the woman enters a foreign family and is completely subordinate to her husband, in many countries she spends practically her entire life at home, rarely leaving. The main purpose of marriage is procreation, the number of children is decided by the spouses. It is allowed to prevent and terminate pregnancy by 120 days (until then the fetus has no soul). Islam allows mixed marriages for men, while forbidden marrying a believer by a Muslim. There is also the possibility of divorce.
Much attention is paid to the physical attractiveness and beauty of women. In the myth devoted to the first people, Ewa was described as a woman with seven hundred braids, whose body was sprinkled with musk, and the skin was smooth and white, eyes large and black, white teeth, plump shapes, and sweet voice. The high value of the physical attractiveness of the woman meant that nurturing the beauty, care for hygiene, clothing and cosmetics were very much appreciated; women tried to look attractive, attractive to their husbands, probably the fear of aging and competition from other wives acted on them not mobilizing.
The law treated sodomy, homosexuality and incest gently (the punishment of flogging), more severely condemning masturbation and breaking up marriages. In the manner and type of sexual intercourse, the Koran does not introduce any restrictions. He gives hygiene recommendations and prohibits the use of alcohol. Many authors assessed women as more able than men in ars amandi, describing the structure, physiology and reactivity of women as a guideline for men. It was recommended to try various, sometimes very sophisticated, sexual positions (naming in this area is very sophisticated, eg "tailor in the workshop", "guest at home", "rainbow bow"), fasting or directly before eating, dreams interpreted etc. Model lover is a man who can flatter a woman, attractive, honest, noble, word-wise and brave. Men like women with dark complexion, large eyes, firm breasts, bulging vulva, a narrow vagina, wide hips, anticipating the man's desires.
In Islam, circumcision and clitoridectomy have been applied (and still apply today, especially in African countries). The repressiveness of the Koranic law applied only to the sexuality of women. Women had a strict ban on pre- and extramarital relations (but the offense had to be proven). From early childhood, women were separated from men, and they were barred from exposing their bodies, including their faces. Women had to submit to the will of the man, also in sexual life.
The erotic art of the Islamic world is very rich; in the Arabic literature, the most famous in Europe is the "Book of a Thousand and One Nights". Erotic scenes can be found on many objects of everyday use, which proves that sex was not a taboo subject, and its graphic presentation did not shock the followers of Islam. In erotic art there are numerous symbolic motifs, eg kitchen utensils indicate that lovers are united after a meal, camphor trees symbolize homosexual feelings (symbols of trees are an expression of connecting feelings), a pen is a symbol of a penis, yellow is a symbol of a woman (sun), green Moon, red Mars, moon is a symbol of beauty of a woman's face, nightingale - her voice, a rose - her form, a cup is a womb, and a soaring cypress is a phallic symbol.
