It is estimated that infections with foot mycosis relate to 15-30 percent. adult population, and in some groups, e.g. in sportsmen, the incidence of illness increases to 70 percent.
HOW DO YOU? Infection?
A sensitive point of the foot
The sensitive point of the foot, which the microscopic parasites are the most likely to attack, is IV-V and III-IV interdigital space, which somewhat later means an immediate threat of onychomycosis of the nails.
Foot mycosis often begins in the interdigital space between the fifth and the fourth finger. The lesions usually occupy interdigital spaces (between III-IV and IV-V with a finger), but of course the infection can go to other spaces, nails and even to the foot arch.
Three factors contribute to the development of ringworm:
• heat,
• moisture,
• damage to the epidermis.
How do we get infected?
The fungal infection usually occurs where heat and moisture reigns, constituting an ideal environment for multiplication of the micro mass parasite. Such places include carpets and damp floors in swimming pools, in city baths, in changing rooms, sports halls, where you can get infected easily when walking barefoot.
The risk of getting sick also increases through:
• using too much "deacidifying" skin of soaps,
• excessive sweating of the feet,
• wearing too warm, windless and tight shoes.
Incubator of the disease - an unhealthy boot
When the mushroom settles on the skin of the foot, the ideal interior development environment may be the inside of our shoe. Especially a solid leather boot, or a plastic that is too tight or close to the foot and does not let air and excess moisture. These are optimal conditions for the development of dermatophytes such as Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton interdigitale and Epidermophyton flocosum.
Some systemic diseases favor infection by fungal infection
Infections are favored by diseases such as diabetes, circulatory disorders of the lower limbs and impaired blood circulation in the legs. How easy it is to know are the illnesses of older people. Hence, it is more difficult to treat mycosis in diseases that progress with a decrease in immune system (eg AIDS).
Warning! You do not heal - you infect others!
Currently, when there are modern and highly effective drugs for topical and general use (oral) - mycosis has become a fully cured disease. However, still many people, especially the elderly, do not know about the creation of a new generation of effective antifungal drugs and believe that for a fungal infection, especially for feet and nails, you are doomed to the end of your life. Therefore, they do not take any steps to combat it. This is a big mistake, as not only are they exposed to the fungal colonization of ever-larger areas of the skin, but they also threaten the spread of infection to those around them.
